Born in 1958, Walter Salin is a musician, actor, director, painter, author for Rai, he has written dramas, essays, novels, monologues.
He has perfected his voice and stage presence with Arnoldo Foa, Gino Bramieri, Riccardo Cucciolla, Alessandro Quasimodo; he has created audiobooks and shows of great literary and musical depth with an ironic - Renaissance tone.
He was the author of the scripts for «Il salotto del giullare» for Radio Due and with the «Album delle parole» he has interviewed important figures such as the neuropsychiatrist Giuliana Ukmar, Letizia Buscaglione and the archaeologist Giuseppe Orefici, famous for his research on Nasca and Rapa Nui.
He currently runs the YouTube channel «La Penna d’Oca», where you can find video versions of some theatrical works, such as «La Piccina Commedia», an ironic and refined reinterpretation of modern Dante’s circles, which sends financiers and pimps, TV chefs and showbiz people, prudens iuris and “blind” clerics to the underworld.
As an artist, in 1985 he went to learn in Carlo Fia’s workshop, who trained him to copy busts sculpted by Cirillo Grott. When his wife Sandra invited him to play at an artistic event in San Babila, he met Vittoria Palazzo, a journalist from the Milanese Circolo della Stampa, who had contacts with the major Italian artists, De Chirico, Guttuso, Brindisi, so he began to frequent the painting workshops on the Navigli and held his first exhibitions with clowns and clocks as subjects, emblems of the passing of time and Pirandello’s inauthenticity.
In painting he blends the sacred and the profane, the elegiac and the dramatic, and the beauty of the woman, a virtuoso play of curves and lines.
His works are reported and listed in: -Annuario d’Arte Moderna A.C.C.A di Roma -Annuario Grandi Maestri Avanguardie Artistiche -Elite (Varese).
He published the Catalogues “Percorsi d’Arte” with the preface of his actor friend Arnoldo Foà and “Segnocolore tra visibile e invisibile” for Sikrea-Verona.
In 2009 he won the National Competition Arte e Immagine città di Trento.
He has created murals, and some of his works can be found in public and private collections in Italy and abroad.
The Artist dedicates himself to developing an intelligible language, experimenting in his works, essentially narrative, the imagined imagery between visible and invisible, to try to capture the beauty of the inner gaze when it rises towards new horizons, beyond the imposed and violent cultural constraints and an ever-increasing rhymebook of “nothingness”. Sincere art, lived with humility and love, can fill existential holes and give people a little joy.
